Turkey, Ottoman Empire. A Medal for Glory, c. 1853 United Republic of some with hinge residue on(Nishani Iftihar). Instituted by the Sultan of Turkey in 1853. Type 3. In silvered bronze, obverse cipher of Sultn Abdl Mejd I above the date 1270 (AH1270 = 1853AD) within a circle imposed on a laurel wreath and arrows(?). Atop is a crescent moon and six pointed star. Reverse shows a six pointed star imposed on a twelve pointed star above the inscription Nishani Iftihar. Green and red ribbon with crossed swords and date. Good condition, tiny blue mark
